All Democratic Socialists and progressive candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their House primaries on Tuesday, handing Mamdani a victory in his bid to move his party further to the left.

President Donald Trump commented on the New York primaries while answering questions from reporters during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House. “They’re going radical left,” Trump said, calling one candidate a communist.

California’s billionaire tax proposal has garnered enough signatures to become eligible for the general election ballot on Nov. 3. The measure is a proposed one-time tax of up to 5 percent on California residents with a net worth of more than $1 billion as of Jan. 1 with some exceptions.
