A scare in midtown Manhattan appears to be over, after emergency crews said that a high-rise building is now stable after structural damage prompted evacuations. The emergency began on Tuesday morning after workers discovered buckled structural columns and sagging floors inside the building. Several nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution, while engineers assessed the damage. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the columns to buckle, and officials say repairs will continue in the coming days.
