Sen. Cruz Confronts State Department Official, Criticizes Biden Admin’s Approach to Sanctions in Western Hemisphere

At the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on “Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Priorities for the Western Hemisphere” on Sept. 7, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) grilled Assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichols about the Biden administration’s approach to sanctions in the Western Hemisphere. Mr. Cruz criticized the administration for not using sanctions against “the left-wing anti-American communists who are aligning with Russia and China and Iran.”
