In 2019, the Commerce Department blacklisted Dahua over its involvement in the CCP's persecution of Uyghurs. The Pentagon later designated it a Chinese military company for fiscal year 2021, which did not come with any penalties at the time.
The U.S. government has blacklisted more than 100 Chinese entities over the persecution of Uyghurs and other minorities in Xinjiang under the 2022 Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA).
“Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, and Chinese democracy advocates—Though we come from different lands and speak different languages, our fates have long been tied together by the same tyranny,” said Sangmo.
