The United States now has redflaglaws to restrict the possession of firearms. The controversial laws allow for guns to be confiscated from gun owners, if a warning on them is issued to the authorities.
Rahimi is a 2024 case in which the high court upheld a so-called “redflaglaw.” Under redflaglaws, local authorities can confiscate firearms from people deemed a threat to others even if they have not been convicted of a crime.
