Lewis’ career has been significantly impacted by the now-rescinded military vaccinemandate. In the months prior to the mandate, he said, service members were beginning to be pressured and coerced into receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
Travel Vaccine Challenge
Four groups of Canadians filed legal challenges over the vaccinemandate for travel.
In the Peckford and Bernier challenge, they argued that about 6 million Canadians were prevented from travelling due to the mandate.
The CAF imposed a vaccinemandate on the troops in October 2021—even though it didn’t fall under the scope of the public service mandate imposed by the Liberal government—partly in order to show “leadership” to Canadians.

Additionally, the workers said that by October 2023 other emergency mandates had ended, including masking, capacity limits, and vaccine passports, and that no other province had kept vaccinemandates, aside from some hospitals in Ontario and Nova Scotia
Challengers to the now-repealed travel vaccinemandate pleaded before the Federal Court of Appeal on Oct. 11 to overturn a previous court decision declaring their case was moot.
The Biden administration is going to end a slew of COVID-19 vaccinemandates, including its requirement that foreign travelers provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, officials said on May 1.
Agendized by Mayor Pro Tem Gracey Van Der Mark, the resolution comes in response to COVID lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 and other mandates by national, state, and local governments including mask wearing and vaccine requirements.
“But what galvanized that decision was the [COVID-19] vaccinemandate.
“At 19 years of service, I almost lost it all. I was going to be separated for not taking the vaccine.”
When the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit decided Doster v.
"The mandates for vaccine requirements are determined by governments and health authorities. I don't believe that the mandates actually forced individuals to get vaccinations," he said.
Rocco said, the letter is “a way to inform the military leaders that the elephant in the room—the negative effects of the COVID-19 vaccinemandate—is not going away until accountability is had.”
