Russia Attacks Ukraine Energy Infrastructure
In the early hours of Oct. 5, Russia attacked with more than 50 missiles and about 500 attack drones, targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Russia says it will hold security talks with the United States and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Jan. 23 after a meeting between top-level U.S. and Russian officials on Thursday.

He underscored the need for pressure on Russia, noting, “all options for pressure on the aggressor must remain on the table.”
Zelenskyy told Bloomberg in January that U.S. troops must be involved in any peacekeeping mission.
The following day, the European Union agreed on sanctions against Russia, including a ban on imports of liquefied natural gas.
After the U.S. sanctions were announced, Putin indicated that Russia would not bow to such pressure.
Russia ratified a protocol on July 23 that gives Belarusians permanently living in Russia the right to vote, according to Russian state-owned media outlet Arguments and Facts.
“I am ready to do major Sanctions on Russia when all NATO Nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO Nations STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA,” Trump wrote.
“Anyway, I am ready to ‘go’ when you are. Just say when?”
When asked by a reporter at the White House if he is ready to move forward with a second phase of sanctions against Russia, Trump replied, “Yeah, I am,” without elaborating.
RussiaRussia, which began its invasion of eastern Ukraine in February 2022, has consistently denied that it has any intention of initiating conflict, particularly with Europe or NATO.
Zelenskyy’s comments came after the latest round of trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, which involved representatives from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.
The diplomatic push comes as Russia continues to intensify attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Overnight into Feb. 7, Russia launched a large-scale air assault involving more than 400 drones and about 40 missiles, Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine and Russia concluded a second day of U.S.-brokered talks in Abu Dhabi on Feb. 5, agreeing to a major prisoner swap, the first such exchange in five months, officials said.
In a Jan. 24 post on X, he said that the parties agreed to continue talks next week in Abu Dhabi, reaffirming U.S. efforts to end the Russia–Ukraine war.
