The two men arrived in Canada on Sept. 25, after Beijing released them on Sept. 24, following a deal with the United States that allowed the Huawei executive to return to China on the same day.
But those efforts had failed to check Huawei.
In February, Huawei announced that it had 91 commercial 5G contracts outside of China, with 47 of the contracts in Europe and 20 in Asia.

The annual report, the sixth from the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre Oversight Board (HCSEC), found Huawei had made “limited progress” on security issues raised last year.
The United States is pressuring Canada and its allies in the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network to ban Huawei because it views the company as an espionage arm of the Chinese state.

Chong said the delay on banning Huawei is threatening Canada's national security because, in the absence of a clear decision, Telus started using Huawei equipment “on some 80 towers and sites” in Ottawa.
Samsung, which lost its No. 1 position to Huawei in the second quarter, regained the crown in the third thanks in part to the U.S. restrictions on Huawei.
Following the UK decision to ban Huawei, its main competitors Nokia and Ericsson, both European firms, issued statements saying they were ready to step in and replace Huawei equipment in the British network.
Washington and its allies say Huawei technology could be used to spy for China. Huawei has denied this.
Britain has acknowledged that without equipment from Huawei it will take it longer to roll out faster 5G mobile networks.
