The FBI said on Feb. 9 it is not aware of any ongoing communication between “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s family and any suspected kidnappers, after the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, entered its second week and a ransom deadline set out in a purported ransom note appeared to have passed.

FBI spokesperson Connor Hagan said in a statement to The Associated Press that no suspects or persons of interest have been identified so far, and the agency is working around the clock to bring Nancy Guthrie home.

Hagan added that authorities need the public’s assistance in the search, as they believe that “someone has that one piece of information that can help us bring Nancy home.”

Multiple news outlets reported receiving ransom notes last week that set two deadlines for Nancy Guthrie’s return, the first passed on Feb. 5 and the second on Feb. 9. The notes were handed over to authorities. The FBI has said they contained no proof of life.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a Feb. 9 post on X that investigators “have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles” connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance and urged anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said on Feb. 6 that they were investigating the authenticity of a new message that represents “one new piece of information” in the case, but did not elaborate.

Savannah Guthrie posted a video on Feb. 9 saying her family was in “an hour of desperation,” adding that they believe her mother is still out there.

“We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help,” she said in an Instagram video.

“So I’m coming on just to ask you, not just for your prayers, but no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, a Tucson suburb, and investigators believe she may have been abducted.

Her three children, in a video released Feb. 4, acknowledged reports of a ransom letter connected to their mother’s disappearance and said they were ready for communication with possible captors.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Feb. 2 that “a crime scene” was found at Nancy Guthrie’s home and that she is very limited in her mobility due to some physical ailments.

Authorities are also offering a $50,000 reward for information about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts or information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect involved in her disappearance.
