Camron Guthrie, the brother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, released a video on Feb. 5 pleading with those responsible for their mother’s disappearance to communicate with the family.

Their 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue, Arizona, and investigators believe she may have been abducted.

“I’m speaking for the Guthrie family. Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you. We haven’t heard anything directly,” Camron Guthrie said in an Instagram video.

“We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first, we have to know that you have our mom. We want to talk to you and we are waiting for contact.”

The video comes as multiple media outlets reported receiving ransom notes connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, which they handed over to the authorities.

The FBI said on Feb. 5 that the alleged notes included a deadline for that day, but the family has not been contacted by the alleged captors. Heith Janke, the FBI special agent in charge of Phoenix, said the notes had a 5 p.m. local time deadline, and that if it was not met, a second deadline was set for Feb. 9.

FBI investigators are taking any ransom notes seriously, Janke said, adding that there were no other demands or proof of life in the notes.

The Guthrie siblings, in a video released Feb. 4, acknowledged reports of a ransom letter connected to their mother’s disappearance and said they are ready for communication with possible captors.

“As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video.

“We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please. Reach out to us,” she continued.

Savannah Guthrie also talked about her mother’s health, saying that she needs her medication to survive.

“She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer,” Savannah Guthrie said.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Feb. 2 that “a crime scene” was found at Nancy Guthrie’s home and that she did not likely leave on her own.

Authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for information in the recovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Meanwhile, the FBI arrested an “imposter” who Janke said had been making false ransom demands for the return of Nancy Guthrie. The agent warned that others might attempt to exploit the situation.

A California man, identified as Derrick Callella, 42, has been charged after he allegedly sent texts to Nancy Guthrie’s daughter and son-in-law demanding bitcoin payment for their mother’s return.
