6 of Canada’s Biggest Canada Day Celebrations for 2025

On July 1, Canada will turn 158, and people from coast to coast are planning to celebrate.

Here are six of the top Canada Day celebrations across the country.

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

Canada Day celebrations start early on the East Coast, with a sunrise ceremony at Signal Hill National Historic Site from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Following the event, an early morning treat in the form of birthday cupcakes will be offered at the Signal Hill Visitor Centre.

Family fun will begin at King George V Park starting at 1 p.m. and run until 5 p.m.

Inflatables, interactive games, and a cultural concert will be among the top activities. There will also be a drumming event and other cultural activities.

Live performances will be held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Quidi Vidi Bandstand.

Fireworks start at 10 p.m.

Ottawa

July 1 celebrations in Ottawa will be spread out over four locations, including LeBreton Flats Park, Parliament Hill, Old Hull, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Activities will include live performances from Canadian artists, including Sarah MacLaughlin, Tom Cochrane, Randy Bauchman, and more.

Family fun will include a climbing tower, bubbles workshop, mural painting, oversized interactive games, face painting, inflatables, and a live DJ.

The day will wrap up with a 10 p.m. fireworks show at LeBreton Flats Park.

Winnipeg

The City of Winnipeg divides its Canada Day festivities into three areas, including a tailgate spot for live music and DJs, a family friendly centre, and a mainstage for live performances.

Family-friendly entertainment will feature face painting, storytelling, inflatables, magic shows, and more.

The firework show will be held at dusk.

Regina

On the prairies, Canada Day gets started with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Wascana Centre on the Saskatchewan Legislative Grounds.

Festivities will also include a Family Fun Zone where kids of all ages can play games, make art, complete STEAM challenges, go on a  scavenger hunt, and enjoy magic shows and music on the Family Stage.

Hot air balloons rides will be offered from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The grounds will also have an adventure zone with inflatables to explore.

Canada Day live music performances can be enjoyed throughout the event.

A fireworks show will be held at the end of the night around 10:30 p.m.

Calgary

Downtown Calgary will be a hub of activity for the city’s Canada Day festivities.

Activities start at 11 a.m. and will be in three locations: Confluence Historic Site & Parkland, St. Patrick’s Island, and the Municipal Building.

Indigenous cultural celebrations will take place at the Historic Site & Parkland.

Family-focused fun will be at St. Patrick’s Island and include live music, face painting, playground, and food vendors.

At the municipal building, various cultural groups will showcase their traditional clothing. Visitors will have a chance to try some items on and snap a photo.

It all wraps up at Stampede Park at 11 p.m. with a fireworks show.

Surrey, BC

Live performances on four stages, amusement rides, and cultural demonstrations will all be part of the Canada Day celebrations in Surrey, B.C. It will come together at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre.

Dubbed Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

From the family zone where kids can craft and play to midway rides like the Zipper, the Spider, and Zero Gravity, to First Nations culture at the Indigenous Village, there is something for everyone at Surrey’s Canada day event.

Fireworks will be held at 10:15 p.m.
