KEELUNG, Taiwan—Shen Yun had its first performance at the Keelung Culture Center on March 20, where Mr. Chou Tien-Wen brought his wife to watch the show for the third time.

Mr. Chou is a well-known calligrapher and is currently the Director of Taiwan Chinese Calligraphy Society. He is also the president of Shuangchun Poetry Club.

“I am so thrilled because Shen Yun presents the perfect combination of sound, form, scene, and color.”

“I have watched their performance every year for the past three years,” he said. “I’m very impressed with the animation on the backdrop. When the artists flew across the stage into the backdrop, I thought they actually did!”

“The special effects in Sand Monk Is Blessed are beyond my imagination, very vivid. In When Shaolin Monks Protected the Emperor, the male artists’ movements and facial expressions made me feel that they have actually mastered such kung fu, as if they were the real monks from Shaolin Temple,” Mr. Chou said.

Every year, Shen Yun presents completely different stories and performances. The stories contain profound meanings from Chinese culture, such as loyalty, filial piety, moral integrity, and righteousness.

The first program, Descending to the World, made Mr. Chou feel overwhelmed, he said. He found the story An Unexpected Encounter very inspiring.

“It helps people understand the difference between goodness and evil, the consequences for the evil-doers, and encourages people to do good.”

“I am quite pleased that people in Keelung get to see such an outstanding performance,” he said. “Every time I watched it, I was stricken by something I have never felt before.”

“Watching Shen Yun demonstrates how profound Chinese culture is. Many things have never been presented before in the forms of drama, dancing, and art.”
