Trump: Iran Has to ‘Cry Uncle’ to End Blockade; House Approves ICE, CBP Funding and Spy Powers Bill | NTD Good Morning (April 30)
President Donald Trump issued a new warning to Iran, telling the regime to “get smart soon,” as the president refuses to lift his naval blockade on Iranian ports. He says that Iran now has to “cry uncle” and that he will be keeping Tehran under that blockade until the regime agrees to a nuclear deal. Trump says the United States is currently in telephone talks with Iran, saying that there could be a potential new wave of strikes on the regime depending on the outcome of those talks.
On Wednesday, House lawmakers broke an impasse on two important measures, including funding for immigration enforcement and the renewal of the government’s spy powers. No reforms will be made to Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy, as Republicans say they tried to find a compromise with Democrats for weeks. The spy powers bill will be heading to the Senate on Thursday, and may see some pushback from senators.
Former FBI Director James Comey made his first court appearance on Wednesday, after he was indicted in North Carolina on Tuesday on charges of making threats against Trump. The charges against Comey stem from a social media post he made last year that showed a photograph of seashells arranged in the numbers “8647.” The indictment alleged that a reasonable recipient of the message would interpret it as a threat to Trump. Comey has said he is innocent and will fight the accusations in court.
