Rubio Hosts Critical Minerals Summit; New Round of Russia–Ukraine Talks Begin

The Trump administration is expected to unveil its grandest plan yet to rebuild supply chains of critical minerals to help counter China’s dominance. Vice President JD Vance is set to deliver opening remarks during the Feb. 4 meeting hosted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Officials from several dozen European, Asian, and African nations are attending.

Ukrainian and Russian negotiators begin a second round of U.S.-brokered talks in Abu Dhabi on Feb. 4. The first round of talks was held in the UAE last month, marking the first direct public negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
