The crucial question here is, why was it so important to shatter this peaceful, charter-empowered protest by truckers, veterans, and farmers—a.k.a. decent hard-working Canadians—with such a heavy hand?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act on Feb. 14, using it as a means to quash the protests against COVID-19 mandates and restrictions by truckers and their supporters in Ottawa across the country.

Several of the rallies in Canada had speakers representing different trucker groups joining convoys to protest vaccine mandates for truck drivers crossing the border which came into effect on Jan. 15.

Trucks began arriving in Ottawa on Jan. 28 and 29 to stage a protest against federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates for truckers travelling between Canada and the United States.

The lawsuit was originally filed on Feb. 4, 2022, by Zexi Li who lived in the area where truckers were parked in Ottawa. Li was seeking $4.8 million in damages for those living within a six-block radius of the Convoy protest.

One viral call for a July 4 protest came from a large truckers’ Telegram group, suggesting that some truckers in the Netherlands may find themselves in solidarity with the nation’s agriculturalists.

Many Canadian elites have shown an unexpected level of incompetence, in response to protest. The prime minister chose to attack the truckers’ Freedom Convoy 2022. Listening was beneath him. He slandered instead of showing compassion.

He claimed that “symbols of hate” characterized the heart or the nature of a peaceful protest that was (unlike many protests) devoid of arson, assault, vandalism, threats, and violence.
