The film is based on the true story of Gao Zhisheng, a human rights lawyer who went missing from his home in northern China’s Shaanxi Province in August 2017 and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

She was depressed after years of harassment by the police and missing her younger brother—lawyer Gao Zhisheng.

Gao Zhisheng, one of China's most renowned human rights lawyers, was kidnapped from his home in Shaanxi province on Aug. 13, 2017. It has been more than seven years since then, and there has not been any information about Gao’s whereabouts.

The report listed more than a dozen prominent prisoners of conscience who remain in Chinese jails, including Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti, human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng, citizen journalist Zhang Zhan, and Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Deyong.

However, Chinese lawyers are “not allowed to process Falun Gong cases,” according to Chinese human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng in an open letter to the United States Congress in 2007.

After his arrest and disappearance on Feb. 4, 2009, the first report to surface was a statement by a policeman to his brother, Gao Zhiyi, that “Gao Zhisheng lost his way and went missing in September 2009.”

He noted that "today, we should especially remember and call out the name of Gao Zhisheng—whose fate in China remains unknown—for his courage in persisting and defending Falun Gong people in court." Mr.

The regime also suppresses many human rights lawyers, including Gao Zhisheng, who spoke out against the CCP's repression of Falun Gong.
