Another notable departure looms for the Indianapolis Colts this offseason with the potential trade of Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore II.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday that the two sides “have agreed to seek a trade” after nine seasons. Moore confirmed with ESPN’s Stephen Holder via text that he is seeking a trade.
Multiple teams could seek Moore via trade, especially with the NFL Draft around the corner on April 23-25 in Pittsburgh. Moore has one season left on his three-year, $30 million deal with the Colts, and he had a productive 2025 season with 55 tackles, an interception, defensive touchdown, two forced fumbles, and six pass deflections in 14 games.
A 2021 Pro Bowler, Moore would be the fourth player lost from the 2025 Colts. Indianapolis previously traded wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and linebacker Zaire Franklin to the Green Bay Packers. The Colts also let pass rusher Kwity Paye walk in free agency.
Indianapolis has invested money in defensive backs Charvarius Ward and Sauce Gardner, so the Colts’ trading Moore to save salary cap room makes sense. For his career as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Valdosta State in Georgia, Moore has 649 tackles, 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 21 interceptions, 68 pass deflections, and five defensive touchdowns.
Here are the teams that could trade for Moore.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers could use improvement in the secondary, and Carolina has already taken steps in that direction with the addition of cornerback Chau Smith-Wade. For Carolina to win the NFC South again and go further in the playoffs, this move would help.
Chicago Bears
The Bears need secondary help, especially after Kyler Gordon played in only three games last year and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson left much to be desired. Moore would give the defense a veteran leader amid an upcoming season of high expectations after winning the NFC North last year.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys struggled with pass defense last season, with a league-worst 251.5 yards allowed per game. Dallas could knock that total down in 2026 with Moore surveying the defensive backfield.
The Cowboys have made moves on defense this offseason, such as signing defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson, but they still need to improve the secondary.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay could use more depth in the secondary and already landing Franklin can’t hurt. Franklin notably posted a picture of himself shaking Moore’s hand amid the news on Friday.
The Packers don’t have the strongest secondary in the league, and Green Bay doesn’t pick until the second round of the draft. Green Bay going the trade route to land Moore would make sense, especially after three consecutive playoff appearances with Jordan Love at quarterback.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs can reverse the offseason fleecing of their secondary by landing Moore. Kansas City has already lost Bryan Cook, Jaylen Watson, Joshua Williams, and Trent McDuffie this offseason. With the Chiefs in win-now mode after missing the playoffs last season, acquiring Moore would serve that vision. The Chiefs are poised to bounce back with quarterback Patrick Mahomes coming back from injury this fall and tight end Travis Kelce possibly playing his final season.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins need to rebuild the secondary, and Moore would be a start. Moore would give the team a veteran that the secondary needs.
New England Patriots
Moore could return to where his NFL career began, a short-lived stint with the Patriots. New England could use another quality corner, especially after Marcus Jones’ struggles last season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers need help in the secondary, as Jacob Parrish underperformed. Moore could bring a veteran presence to a team that was winning the NFC South annually until last year.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans have been spending this offseason to boost the roster, and Moore would provide leadership for the defense and secondary. Tennessee has the draft capital to make a move for Moore.
