President Donald Trump told reporters his team is looking into whether U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle should be removed from her role following allegations of improper conduct concerning a donor before and during her diplomatic service.

The president was asked by a White House reporter during a press gaggle whether he was considering firing her.

“Well, we’re looking at it,” Trump said. “Yeah, we’re not happy.”

Guilfoyle has denied the allegations reported by The Wall Street Journal that she asked a wealthy donor in a series of text messages for money to pay her $100,000 American Express bill before her confirmation hearing.

In exchange for the payment, she allegedly told donor Eric Deters that she would be his access to the Trump world.

The reporting also alleged that Guilfoyle bragged about luxury travel and private jet trips provided to her by executives from Aktor, a Greek construction and energy company, citing an audio recording reviewed by the outlet.

Guilfoyle’s office didn’t immediately return a request seeking comment about Trump’s statement on Monday. Her lawyers, David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall, referred The Epoch Times to a detailed statement issued on Oct. 10, denying any wrongdoing.

Her attorneys said that Deters, a Republican donor and former political candidate from Kentucky, owed Guilfoyle about $150,000 for speeches and consulting work. She was attempting to collect the funds before starting her new post, they said.

“Asking a client to pay for work already done is not corruption. It is the opposite of corruption,” the lawyers said in the statement provided to The Epoch Times.

The attorneys said the allegations about Guilfoyle’s travel were “equally misleading.”

“Before using any private aircraft, Ambassador Guilfoyle sought, obtained and followed State Department guidance and followed the Department’s travel regulations,” the lawyers said. “She has complied with applicable federal ethics, gifts, and reporting requirements, as the Embassy has already confirmed.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Greece and met with the ambassador last week. He declined to answer questions about the allegations from reporters during his visit, saying the embassy in Greece was doing “a great job” and Guilfoyle “has been a strong ambassador.”

Guilfoyle—a former prosecutor, Fox News host, and the ex-girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr.—was sworn into the diplomatic position one year ago, becoming the first woman to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.

Her focus has been to advance U.S. energy security interests across Europe and strengthen the U.S.–Greece strategic partnership, her lawyers said.

Guilfoyle also founded a vodka company called Polished Rice last year and is a managing member of a company called “Metropolitan Medspa” in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, according to the State Department.

Her largest source of income in 2024 was as a podcast host of “The Kimberly Guilfoyle Show” on the video platform Rumble, earning $770,000.

She dated Donald Trump Jr. from 2018 to 2024. The native Californian from San Francisco was also married to Gov. Gavin Newsom from 2001 to 2006.

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said Monday the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee plan to continue demanding records about Guilfoyle.

“The clock is ticking and Oversight Democrats won’t stop or slow down our investigation into Ms. Guilfoyle until she provides clear answers. Did she ask a MAGA donor to pay off a $100k credit card bill?” Garcia wrote in an Oct. 12 post on X.
