2 Killed, 2 Injured After Vehicle Hits Pedestrians at BC’s Tsawwassen Mills Mall

Two people have been killed and two injured after a vehicle struck pedestrians in the parking lot of the Tsawwassen Mills Mall in B.C.’s Lower Mainland, according to police. 

The Tsawwassen First Nation had said earlier on Sept. 30 that it had ended a Truth and Reconciliation Day event that was in progress nearby due to a “critical” incident at the mall that morning. 

“Preliminary information indicates the driver of the involved vehicle may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision,” Delta, police said in a statement, adding that the incident occurred around 10:25 a.m. 

“Four pedestrians were struck and, tragically, two people have died as a result of their injuries,” police added. 

The remaining victims were treated by emergency services. 

Police say the incident was not related to the Truth and Reconciliation event that was taking place at the time, and said there is no ongoing risk to the public. 

“The investigation remains in its early stages as officers work to determine all of the circumstances surrounding the collision,” police said, adding anyone with information or footage of the incident should contact police. 

Police did not provide further details on the extent of the injuries of the two survivors or details of the “medical emergency” that they believe occurred.
