A man charged in connection with the 2023 assassination of a prominent Canadian Sikh activist has been added to the FBI’s top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list.
Satinderjeet Singh, who is also known as Goldy Brar, has been accused of ordering the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, B.C.
An FBI press release says the agency is offering a reward of up to US$1 million for information leading to Singh’s arrest.
He is accused of being the North American leader of the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group, which was officially listed as a terrorist organization in Canada last year.
FBI Los Angeles Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Patrick Grandy described Singh as a “dangerous individual.”
“His photo will be found on every FBI-affiliated website and social media platform, and will be publicized on every phone around the world until he’s caught,” Grandy said in the press release.
Singh was charged in a U.S. federal indictment unsealed in Los Angeles in July 2026 for his alleged role with the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group, which is suspected in shootings, murders, kidnappings, extortions, assaults, and the trafficking of narcotics and weapons across the United States and Canada.
The indictment alleges that Singh and imprisoned Indian gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi orchestrated the June 18, 2023, assassination of Nijjar.
He was charged in federal court with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy, conspiracy to interfere, attempted interference with commerce by extortion, and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The FBI says Singh is based in the United States but is also known to frequent Western Canada.
RCMP Deputy Commissioner of Federal Policing Lisa Moreland says Singh and his network have inflicted “devastating havoc on countless lives” through high-profile murders, death threats, extortion, and drug trafficking.
One of the high-profile murders is that of Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader who advocated for the creation of Khalistan, a proposed sovereign Sikh state intended to be carved out of India’s Punjab region.
Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents in September 2023 of being responsible for Nijjar’s assassination. India denied the claim and in turn accused Canada of harbouring Khalistani separatists, leading to a breakdown of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations thawed after Prime Minister Mark Carney invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the June 2025 G7 Summit in Alberta to pursue a new trade relationship.
