CHIAYI, Taiwan—In the afternoon of March 12, Cheng Yu-Lung watched Shen Yun Performing Arts’ second performance in Chiayi with a friend. Mr. Cheng is a host and vice president of The Voice of Kagi Radio Network. Shen Yun did not disappoint Mr. Cheng. He said, “I heard that Shen Yun was peerlessly brilliant. I certainly am not disappointed, it’s perfect! It’s the most supreme art performance I have seen so far.”
Mr. Cheng was amazed by the overall collocation. “The smart combination of the light and sound effects, which added to the art elements, was stunning. The male artists manifested strength and boldness and their performance was sharp, powerful and smooth. The female artists manifested elegance and beauty. This is the best oriental dance I have seen that radiates the charm of traditional Chinese dance.”
Mr. Cheng felt sad for the father and daughter who toured Beijing in Unexpected Encounter. “It was a simple pursuit of truthfulness, compassion, forbearance and unfortunately the bad guys [Chinese communist regime] must ruin it.”
The backdrop technology was impressive for Mr. Cheng: “For the background to look real, the artists have to have a very precise control of their movements because there is no room for mismatch. The background animation was very three dimensional and depicted the stories very well. The sound effect in Sand Monk Is Blessed was even manifested in the animation, unbelievable!”
Mr. Cheng loves vocal music and thinks that Shen Yun’s vocalists are of “world class.”
The last program Divine Mercy made Mr. Cheng wonder, “It gives me a feeling that one must respect nature and return to his true self. Mankind should not be so arrogant and think that it is capable of everything.”
“I will definitely share this mesmerizing performance with my audience and tell them that they must come to see it themselves,” Mr. Cheng concluded.
‘The live music was very pleasing to the ears’

On the evening of March 12, Yunlin County Chief Su Chih-Fen and many of the county’s officials watched Shen Yun’s last performance in Chiayi.
“Shen Yun is a internationally well-known art group. Its performance manifests the aesthetics of classical Chinese dance. Their arrival is a great blessing for our local students,” Ms. Su said as she first welcomed Shen Yun.
This is Ms. Su’s third time watching New York-based Shen Yun. She noticed the live orchestra, “It was not there the last two times I was here. The live music was very pleasing to the ears.”
Shen Yun’s orchestra is composed of both Western and Chinese instruments.
Su liked how the ethnic dances fully demonstrated the masculinity of men and the soft and elegant charm of women. “The dances of Yi and Tibet demonstrated both the soft beauty of women and the masculinity of men. Fantastic!”
Su expressed her admiration for the artists with three “not easy!’s”
“They are so young yet so professional,” she said. “It’s not just their physical movements but also the emotions extending from these movements. They did a spectacular job.”
Su enjoyed the costumes the artists wore as well. “How did they make the costumes so dazzling and exceptionally beautiful?!”
Watching the unyielding spirit of the Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China in a dance depicting China today, Su was moved, “The world should head toward the direction of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.”
“Falun Dafa is a positive practice and should be welcomed.”
In the end, Su stressed the advantages of watching Shen Yun, “It will make your life artistic and positive, which is a great development for everyone’s heart.”
