Fox News Media announced on Sept. 3 that Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo will be departing the network, effective immediately.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the network said in a statement.
Fox News Media did not provide a reason for her departure in its announcement.
An attorney representing Bartiromo said on Sept. 4 that the longtime cable news host was not fired from Fox News.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” a spokesperson for attorney Bryan Freedman, Bartiromo’s attorney, said in an emailed statement to The Epoch Times.
Suggesting that media outlets and individuals making such claims could be brought to court, Freedman added, “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.”
Bartiromo’s last Fox Business show, “Mornings with Maria,” was on Sept. 3. The show will transition to a new program, “Mornings with FOX Business,” with rotating hosts, the company said.
Her popular “Sunday Morning Futures” program on the network will now be hosted by Jason Chaffetz, a former Republican congressman who became a Fox News host, it said.
Meanwhile, her show “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” will be rebranded as “FBN’s Wall Street,” Fox News Media said.
Cheryl Casone will host the Sept. 4 episode, and rotating anchors will take over after that, the company said.
A new weekday programming schedule will be provided in the coming weeks, Fox said.
An Epoch Times review of Fox Business’s website shows that a biography page set up for Bartiromo appeared to have been deleted.
When Fox News parted ways with its former popular host Tucker Carlson in 2023, the company also did not provide a reason for the move.
Bartiromo started her career at CNN before joining CNBC in 1993 and serving as a host for the cable network’s “Closing Bell” and “On the Money With Maria Bartiromo.”
Notably, she covered Wall Street-related news live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
The departure on Sept. 3 comes as the Trump administration is without a press secretary after Karoline Leavitt left the administration in August. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
President Donald Trump has often praised Bartiromo on social media, and he named her and Fox host Laura Ingraham to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
“I am thrilled to announce that Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo will be joining our Kennedy Center Board—This completes our selection,” Trump wrote on Truth Social last year. “We look forward to restoring the Center to Greatness, and ushering in America’s Golden Age. Together, we will Make the Arts Great Again!”
