NEW YORK—Hurricane Sandy left a trail of destruction with many sustaining damage. In turn, this has spurred the shining community spirit of New Yorkers. This past week, many individuals, families, and groups stepped forward to lend a hand to those in need.
A number of online services are helping link people and places in need with willing volunteers. Some are also accepting donations to support the recovery effort.
