Actress Anne Hathaway has unveiled the first official image of her reprised role as Andy Sachs in the upcoming sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” marking a return to one of her most iconic characters nearly 20 years after the original film’s release.

On July 21, the actress shared a photo on social media in partnership with 20th Century Studios, offering a visual preview of her character in the new film, currently in production.

Hathaway is pictured wearing a tailored pinstriped vest and matching trousers, accessorized with a pearl necklace and pointed-toe booties. Her hair is styled in soft curls, and she appears smiling and relaxed, leaning casually against a stone ledge. The image was captioned simply, “Andy Sachs 2025.”

The sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” began production on June 30. Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the same creative team behind the original 2006 release, the film is expected to reintroduce audiences to the competitive world of fashion journalism, now reshaped by the digital age and the decline of traditional publishing.

Several members from the cast of the original 2006 film will return. Meryl Streep will reprise her role as Miranda Priestly, while Emily Blunt returns as Emily Charlton. Stanley Tucci also returns as Nigel Kipling, Runway’s creative director.

New additions to the cast include Kenneth Branagh, who will portray Priestly’s husband, as well as Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Simone Ashley, Helen J. Shen, and Conrad Ricamora. Adrian Grenier, who played Andy Sachs’s boyfriend, Nate Cooper, in the original film, will not return for the sequel.

The original “Devil Wears Prada” was released in 2006 and earned over $326 million at the global box office. It received critical acclaim, including an Academy Award nomination for Meryl Streep in the category of Best Actress. The film has remained a mainstay in popular culture for its portrayal of the high-pressure fashion industry and its sharp commentary on ambition, sacrifice, and personal values.

The sequel is being produced by 20th Century Studios, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Production will take place in both New York City and Italy, according to initial production announcements.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to release exclusively in theaters on May 1, 2026.
