Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26 after being charged in connection with a multi-car crash that he was involved in last week in Connecticut.

On July 24, McMahon, 79, was cited for reckless driving and following too closely, resulting in an accident, after allegedly colliding with a vehicle while traveling northbound on Route 15 in the town of Westport, located about 30 miles down the coast from New Haven.

McMahon’s Bentley slammed into the median, causing debris to fly over the guardrail, according to an accident report shared with The Epoch Times via email on Thursday.

A third vehicle that was traveling southbound on the parkway also sustained damage after hitting the debris.

Barbara Doran, the driver of the BMW that was rear-ended, said that she struggled to stay on the road due to the force of the crash.

“I was driving along in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward, and you can see the skid marks where I was trying desperately to keep on the road,” she said.

Doran, 72, said she spoke with McMahon after the incident occurred.

“He just, you know, expressed concern, was glad I was OK and all that,” she said. “And I thanked him for his concern.”

All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Each driver was wearing a seatbelt, and no injuries were immediately reported following the accident.

McMahon was released on a $500 non-surety bond and ordered to appear at the Stamford Superior Court at the end of August.

The Epoch Times reached out to McMahon’s representative, but a response was not received by publication time.

Up until recently, McMahon served at the helm of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He purchased the professional wrestling promotion—previously known as the World Wrestling Federation—in 1982 from his father, Vincent J. McMahon.

However, last year, he resigned from his role as executive chairman and from his position on the board of directors of WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings, which was formed in 2023 after WWE merged with Endeavor’s Ultimate Fighting Championship.

McMahon’s resignation came after a former WWE employee filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of sexual assault, among other claims. He had previously stepped down as WWE’s CEO in 2022, after an investigation was launched into sexual misconduct allegations made against him, which matched those outlined in the lawsuit.

McMahon has denied the allegations, and the lawsuit is currently still pending.
