American actress Sydney Sweeney recently shared a personal message about her brother’s military deployment, offering a glimpse into her family life while expressing support for U.S. service members stationed overseas.
In a recent Instagram Stories post reported by Fox News, Sweeney shared a screenshot of a video call with her brother, Trent Sweeney, who appeared in military uniform. “Receiving calls from my bro always make me happy when he’s deployed,” she wrote in the caption. She added, “Thinking of all our boys and girls overseas and sending my love! Thank you for your service.”
Trent Sweeney serves in the U.S. Air Force and was promoted to staff sergeant in August 2025. It remains unclear where he is stationed or whether his deployment is directly tied to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Sweeney’s post comes amid heightened geopolitical developments involving Iran. The United States and Israel have been engaged in a conflict with Iran in recent weeks, with thousands of U.S. troops reportedly mobilized to the region.
President Donald Trump has said the United States remains in discussions with Iran regarding a potential resolution, while Iranian officials have publicly rejected claims that negotiations are underway.
“They want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it because they figure they’ll be killed by their own people,” he said about Iran. “They’re also afraid they’ll be killed by us.”
The actress has previously found herself at the center of political discourse. In 2023, she faced backlash over an advertising campaign with American Eagle featuring the slogan “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” which drew criticism from online commentators.
Sweeney has addressed speculation about her political views in past interviews, emphasizing that her focus remains on her work. In a January interview with Cosmopolitan, she said she aims to stay out of political debates, stating that her role is to create art rather than engage in partisan discussions.
“I’ve never been here to talk about politics,” she said. “I’ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of. And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn. But it’s somebody else assigning something to me, and I can’t control that.”
Sweeney gained early recognition for her role in the Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale” before rising to prominence as Cassie Howard in HBO’s “Euphoria.” She has since taken on leading roles in film, including the commercially successful 2023 romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” as well as more recent projects such as 2025’s “The Housemaid” and “Christy,” in which she portrayed the former professional boxer, Christy Martin.
