Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, announced Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and recently underwent a medical procedure as she begins treatment.

The 48-year-old shared the news in a statement posted to Instagram, describing it as a “personal health update” and saying she is currently working with doctors on a treatment plan.

In the statement, she acknowledged the unexpected nature of the diagnosis, writing that she is “working closely” with her medical team following the discovery of the illness. She also thanked physicians for “performing a procedure earlier this week” as part of her care.

“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote. “While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.”

Vanessa Trump said she remains “focused and hopeful” while surrounded by support from family members, close friends, and her children.

“I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me,” she added.

She shares five children with Donald Trump Jr. The pair married in 2005 and later announced their separation in 2018. Their children are Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.

Continuing her message, Trump thanked supporters for their kindness during the early stages of treatment and recovery.

“Thank you for your kindness and support it truly means more than I can express,” she wrote, later adding, “I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery.”

The announcement prompted an outpouring of support in the comments section of the post, including a public message from Ivanka Trump, Trump Jr.’s sister.

“Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama,” Ivanka Trump commented beneath the post.

The diagnosis comes months after Vanessa Trump’s relationship with professional golfer Tiger Woods became public. Woods confirmed the relationship in March through social media posts featuring the couple.

Recent attention surrounding Woods has also centered on legal troubles connected to a DUI case. Woods pleaded not guilty in March to a DUI charge and a separate allegation involving refusal to submit to a urine test.

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” Woods said following the plea. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

Trump’s Instagram statement did not reveal additional information regarding the stage of the cancer diagnosis or specifics surrounding her treatment beyond referencing the recent procedure and ongoing medical care.
