US and China Set to Resume Trade Talks in Switzerland; REAL ID Enforcement Begins Wednesday | NTD Good Morning (May 7)

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet with their Chinese counterparts in Switzerland this weekend to hold high-level trade discussions. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the Chinese regime wants to engage with the United States as its economy is feeling the impact of the tariffs. News of the planned Geneva meeting sent U.S. stock market futures higher. Markets in China and Hong Kong followed suit during trading on Wednesday.

During a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem highlighted the beginning of the REAL ID program and touted the plan as an effective tool to guarantee air travel safety. Travelers without REAL ID should still be set to fly, but Noem said individuals without the updated documentation should be prepared for extra screening.

Dozens are dead after India launched missile strikes into Pakistan-controlled territory on Wednesday. India says it targeted terrorist infrastructure.
