Trump, House GOP to Discuss Election-Year Agenda; Venezuelan Opposition Leader Machado Vows to Return Home

President Donald Trump will meet with House Republicans on Tuesday to discuss their agenda at the start of a critical midterm election year. GOP lawmakers are hosting a day-long policy forum at the Trump Kennedy Center.

Venezuela’s main opposition leader, María Corina Machado, has vowed to return home quickly, praised Trump for toppling dictator Nicolás Maduro, and declared her movement ready to win a free election. However, Trump also expressed his willingness, under certain conditions, to work with interim leader Delcy Rodriguez and other senior officials from Maduro’s regime, and said the United States needs to help address Venezuela’s problems before an election can take place.
