Israel, Lebanon to Hold Talks in Washington; Trump: Iran Will Never Have Nuclear Weapon | NTD Good Morning (April 14)
Lebanon and Israel are expected to meet in Washington on April 14 for U.S.-mediated talks. Lebanon’s foreign minister says Beirut will use the meeting to push for a ceasefire in his country, while Israel says a ceasefire with Hezbollah is not on the table. The Israel Defense Forces is keeping up the pressure against the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon.
U.S. President Donald Trump is doubling down on his stance on Iran, saying that Iran’s enriched uranium must be removed and calling Iran’s actions on the world stage unacceptable. The U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is now in effect. Ships can still pass through the strait, but not if they’re coming to or from Iranian ports.
Two Congressmen, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas), announced they are leaving Congress after the House launched separate ethics investigations of the lawmakers.
Swalwell said on April 13 that he was resigning from Congress just a day after ending his campaign for California governor amid sexual assault allegations. He has consistently denied the allegations.
Gonzales also announced on April 13 that he plans to retire.
