Pentagon: Ceasefire Between US and Iran Is Not Over; Trump Says Economy Booming Despite Iran War | NTD Good Morning (May 5)

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine gave a press conference at the Pentagon on Tuesday.

The pair confirmed that the recent acts of aggression from Iran are below the threshold requiring major combat operations. General Caine said that since the ceasefire was announced, Iran has attacked U.S. forces more than 10 times.

President Donald Trump says the U.S. economy is surging despite the conflict with Iran. At the White House on Monday, the president pointed to jobs, markets, and small business growth as signs of continued strength.

The president also credited tariffs and tax cuts for boosting domestic industry and manufacturing. At the same time, economists warn that rising oil prices tied to the conflict are weighing on small business sentiment.

The nationwide redistricting battle is escalating, with protests outside the Alabama House and a heated exchange between Supreme Court justices. On Monday, the high court took further action, allowing Louisiana to use a new map for the upcoming primaries.

Louisiana legislators have already begun redrawing their lines to comply with the court’s ruling, and a vote is possible by next week, with Democrats potentially losing two seats.
