WNBA star Caitlin Clark is adding publishing to her growing list of professional ventures—her first children’s book comes out later this year.

The rhyming picture book, “EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams,” is scheduled for release on Nov. 3 through Random House Books for Young Readers. The project is designed to convey lessons about personal growth and the role of support systems in achieving goals.

“Basketball has given me so many incredible opportunities, but what has always meant the most to me are the people who’ve supported me along the way,” Clark told The Associated Press in a statement

“I hope this book reminds kids that they’re never alone in chasing their dreams and that giving a little extra to the people and moments is what makes them EXTRAordinary.”

Publisher Penguin Random House describes the book as an uplifting story that emphasizes the role of relationships in shaping success. Through a reflective, first-person perspective, Clark highlights the importance of family, friends, and teammates, portraying them as foundational to both personal and professional achievements.

“I look in the mirror, and what do I see? A special reminder to be the best me,” the book description begins.

The story underscores that love, joy, and shared experiences carry lasting value, encouraging young readers to invest time and attention in the people around them.

“What deserves our EXTRA time and EXTRA attention—are the people surrounding us,” the description says.

The concept behind the book draws from a personal message Clark encountered while growing up in Iowa. An inscription displayed above a mirror in her childhood bedroom read, “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA,” a phrase that later helped shape the narrative of the project.

The book is currently available for preorder through major retailers.

Clark, 24, has emerged as one of the most recognizable figures in women’s basketball in recent years. Selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, she quickly gained prominence for her scoring ability and playmaking. She was named the league’s Rookie of the Year and has been widely credited with drawing increased national attention to the sport.

Before entering the professional ranks, Clark built a decorated collegiate career at the University of Iowa, where she she set scoring records while earning multiple national player of the year honors. Her transition to the WNBA has been closely followed, with strong fan engagement and media coverage accompanying her early seasons.

Clark recently returned to the court after injuries limited her to 13 games in 2025.
