Vice President JD Vance highlighted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and President Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s spending and tax cuts plan to hundreds of workers in Peachtree, Georgia, on Aug. 21.
“My friends, it’s the carrot and the stick,” Vance said. “We want to make it easier to build in America. We want to make it easier to rely on our great American workers, because we’ve got a lot of them.”
He made the remarks at an ALTA Refrigeration building near Atlanta in the pivotal southern swing state.
The vice president stood near a 13-ton refrigerator made in the factory and in front of a large American flag and banners that read, in capital letters, “Protect American Manufacturing” and “Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!”
“This manufacturing plant represents what makes America great, because the products that you build, the jobs created here, the ingenuity and the technology and the development and all the things that actually make America run, are built right here at this incredible, incredible facility,” Vance said.
The spending plan passed last month will extend tax cuts established during Trump’s first term and will offer additional tax relief for some who earn tips, those with Social Security income, and families with children, among others.
“This is the biggest tax cut in American history, and it’s going to put money back in the pockets of hardworking Georgians,” Vance said.
“You’re going to get a big, fat tax cut.”
He said a “flood” of illegal immigrants in recent years degraded the quality of life of millions of Americans by reducing the number of available jobs and increasing competition for homes and other goods.
A strong border policy and deportation of illegal immigrants are key components of the president’s budget plan and will allow the country to better manage health care costs, according to the vice president.

“I happen to believe that when you are struggling in this country, we are generous people, and we want to help you, but we want to help the people who have the legal right to be in the United States of America,” Vance said.
“So it’s not about kicking people off health care, it’s about kicking illegal aliens … out of this country so that we can preserve health care for the American families who need it.”
With the nation’s debt exceeding $37 trillion, he said the country cannot afford to provide benefits to noncitizens.
“It’s very common sense. … We’re going to bankrupt this country if we keep on giving the people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits to illegal aliens who have no legal right to be in this country and never paid into the system to begin with,” Vance said. “That is never the design of those programs, to give them to every person all over the world.”
Other administration priorities are meant to catalyze local action, he said.
“I’m most proud that we have an administration that is making it easier, whether you’re rich or poor, to walk down the street with a semblance of public safety,” Vance said. “I’m most proud that we’re fighting for the jobs of the people behind me, and the jobs of every single working person in this country, and we’re fighting to make sure that you pay low taxes instead of a bunch of garbage to the federal government.”
He said recent efforts to secure Washington are proving effective and should serve as a model for other cities to clean up crime.
“We don’t have to live like this,” Vance said. “All we need is politicians who actually care more about the public safety for American citizens than they do for criminals.”
