A country-wide recall is underway for made-to-order window shades that could pose a choking hazard to children.
Health Canada published a recall notice for four types of blinds made by Springs Window Fashions LLC after determining they fail to meet Canadian child safety regulations.
“The end caps on the bottom rail may not be glued and can release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children,” Health Canada said in a recent advisory, noting that the company had not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada as of May 19.
The company has initiated a recall for Bali Springs Cellular shades, Cellular shades Graber Cellular shades, and Signature Series Cellular shades which were available for purchase from January 1, 2025, to April 9. A total of 37,723 of the affected blinds were sold in Canada.
The product label, which includes the model number and manufacturing date, is located on the top of the headrail of the shades. The model numbers can be found here.
Membership-based retailer Costco also issued a recall notice for Bali Springs Cellular shades which it sold online until April of this year. It said members should contact Springs Window Fashions if the end caps on the bottom rail are not securely glued.
“If the endcap detaches, a glue kit with instructions will be provided by the vendor,” the company said. “You may also return the item to Costco.ca to obtain a full refund.”
Vitamin Recall
Another brand sold at Costco is also subject to recall that the retailer described as “urgent.”
Kirkland Women 50+ vitamin tablets sold between February and May of this year were taken off store shelves after a metal object was found in one of the bottles, the company said in a recent advisory.

The nationwide recall was initiated by Winnipeg, Man.-based Vita Health Products Inc., and has been categorized as Class 2 by Health Canada. This classification indicates a moderate risk that consuming the product may lead to short-term or non-life-threatening health problems, the health agency said.
The affected vitamins can be identified by an expiry date of February 2028 and the number 5J46568W7 on the neck of the bottle and. The Costco item number is 7013050.
Health Canada is recommending consumers consult their health-care provider prior to discontinuing use of the affected product and to report any health product-related side effects to Health Canada.
