NEW YORK— For the first time, a calf has been born at Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo. Tetley, a Shornhorn milking cow, gave birth to her calf earlier this month.

The male calf weighed 84 pounds at birth, and could grow to weigh over 1,000 pounds. His father is a Randall Lineback bull. The calf and his mother rest at the barn, along with geese, goats, sheep, and a turkey.

The Wildlife Conservation Society is largest organization of urban wildlife parks. It hopes to change people’s attitudes toward nature through education, and ensure that wildlife and humans can live in harmony.
