As much as humankind has had negative impacts on the wildlife surrounding its settlements, touching stories of animal-human encounters give hope for a compassion that knows not the boundaries of species.

A crying fawn rescued by a helping human hand hobbles off to its mother after the ordeal. The doe looks back at the man, and her thankfulness seems to be communicated in the gesture.

In the following video, Todd Dierdorff in Colorado springs is seen helping a fawn that fell into a well window. Dierdorff told KKTV11 the fawn would never have been able to get out on its own.
