TAINAN, Taiwan—An executive said he felt inspired when he saw Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at Tainan Municipal Cultural Center on March 16. Wang Jinxian, vice chairman of Da Chao Pharmacy Biotech Company attended with his wife and his colleague, Yu Qingmu, vice general manager. He reflected on the performance as a whole, and what it meant to him.
“I was in awe and very impressed,” said Mr. Wang.
He felt the performance conveyed spiritual truth, and he responded passionately. “All people originate from heaven. Shen Yun awakens people’s inner divinity and purifies their souls. This has been an emotional rollercoaster.”
In Mr. Wang’s opinion, experiencing the messages and stories conveyed by Shen Yun inspires a soul-cleansing introspection.
Knowing that Shen Yun is reviving the 5,000 years of Chinese civilization earned his greatest respect. Mr. Wang said he felt very aware of how much modern people have deteriorated: “Ethics and morality are slowly becoming irrelevant and lost. In simple words, it is terrible that fathers do not act like fathers, sons do not act like sons, nor do princes and ministers behave as they should.”
He felt philosophical about the cause and cure. Mr. Wang said, “Suffering in the mundane world is the result of too many worldly emotions, such as desire for fame and the pursuit of self-interest. By improving one’s morality and character, one can return to his or her original place.”
To Mr. Wang, a soul may return to heaven only after spiritual purification.
The Shen Yun Orchestra was so perfect that at first it tricked him, said Mr. Wang. He said that he thought the music was recorded and was astonished when he realized that he was hearing an orchestra. It combines Eastern and Western instruments, and “The ensemble at once expresses both the grandeur of a Western orchestra and the distinct sensibilities of China’s 5,000-year-old civilization,” according to the Shen Yun website.
Every component of the performance was excellent, according to Mr. Wang. “The music, the lighting, the dance, and the backdrops, each was done with perfection. The artistic skills of every single dancer are top notch. It was not easy to do those very difficult dance moves. It was simply the best.”
The high artistic level represents far more than entertainment, to Mr. Wang. “Every single program inspires people, allowing people to reflect on themselves long after they have left the theater,” he said.
Shen Yun Helps People Reflect on Themselves

On the evening of March 16, Mr. Li Wei-Min watched Shen Yun’s performance at the Cultural Center. There was full attendance, and Mr. Li believed that the most valuable lesson he learned from watching New York-based Shen Yun was that it helped people to see and reflect on themselves.
This was Li’s third time watching the company that aims to restore 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture. It’s been five years since he last saw it. “Each time it brings me a whole new kind of sensation, and I feel thrilled.”
Li has made many documentary films and as an artist, he said that Shen Yun’s dancing, storytelling, singing, and live orchestra were “marvelous!”
“I am speechless. If I have to use a word to describe the performance, it would be ‘unparalleled’!” he said.
What made Li most emotional was that in the process of watching the performance, “Shen Yun made me reflect on part of my life experience and made me realized: Oh, that was the truth of what I went through!”
“When I watched the stories, I constantly reflected on what I did not do well in at certain points of my life. At those moments, the stories were like mirrors and through these mirrors I was able to see myself and ponder how I could have done better.” This being the value of Shen Yun’s performance, “It is very important to me,” Li stressed.
