GRANTS PASS, Ore.—Authorities say a couple from Grants Pass, Oregon, were rescued after spending two nights in their pickup in a snowy ditch in the mountains.

The Mail Tribune reports a woman and 80-year-old man left their home Saturday to go for a drive in a four-wheel drive pickup truck.

Officials with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department say the truck slid off a slick road and got stuck in a ditch later that day.

The Sheriff’s Department says after two nights with one bottle of water and a granola bar between them, the man left the truck and walked about a mile to find cellphone service.

Authorities say the man called a family member and search and rescue crews from Jackson and Josephine counties responded.

Authorities say there were no injuries.
