A rice seller who had been buried in the wreckage of a building—for four weeks—was rescued on Tuesday in Port-au-Prince.

Doctors said that Evan Muncie, 28, was "emaciated" after being trapped under the building in the Haitian capital following the devastating earthquake on Jan. 12.

Dr. Mike Connelly at the University of Miami field hospital told CNN that Muncie was suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. "He hadn't had anything [to eat] in quite some time," he said.

"He had open wounds that were festering on both of his feet." The magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti in mid-January killed more than 200,000 people and left more than one million people in need of aid.
