Maria Bartiromo’s Attorney Says She Was Not Fired by Fox News

An attorney representing Maria Bartiromo said that the longtime cable news host was not fired from Fox News, a day after the network announced she would be leaving the company.

“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” a spokesperson for attorney Bryan Freedman, Bartiromo’s attorney, said in an emailed statement to The Epoch Times on Friday.

Suggesting that media outlets and individuals making such claims could be brought to court, Freedman added, “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.”

Freedman represented host Tucker Carlson after he departed Fox News in 2023.

“Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth,” Freedman, who has acted as a representative for actors such as Vin Diesel, Seth Rogen, and Julia Roberts, added in the statement.

A day earlier, Fox News Media said in a brief statement that it had parted ways with Bartiromo, who joined Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network in 2013. Before that, she was an anchor and reporter at financial cable news network CNBC for decades.

Fox did not provide a reason for her departure, and Bartiromo has not made any public comments following the split other than Freedman’s comment to media outlets.

“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” Fox News Media said in the statement.

Fox said that her departure from the network would be effective immediately, and also indicated that two shows Bartiromo had hosted would be renamed and have new hosts in the coming days. Fox also named a new host for her “Sunday Morning Futures” show.

President Donald Trump described Bartiromo as a “true warrior” and “total professional” in a Sept. 3 post on Truth Social. He also said that fans of her shows on Fox won’t be happy with the development.

Vice President JD Vance also commented on the matter during White House press conference, appearing to shut down rumors that Bartiromo could replace White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt after she left the administration last month.

“No, I don’t think so,” Vance said in response to a question about that prospect. The vice president also praised Bartiromo, calling her a friend.

Bartiromo’s departure is the highest-profile exit from Fox News since 2023, when Carlson left the company after he hosted a formerly No. 1-rated primetime cable news show. Before that, Fox News parted ways with then-longtime host Bill O’Reilly.

A previous request for comment to Bartiromo’s agency representatives was not returned on Thursday. A spokesperson for Fox News did not immediately respond to an Epoch Times request for comment on Friday.
