Jeffrey Babbitt of New York Dies After Alleged Hate Crime

Jeffrey Babbitt, a 62-year-old white man, has reportedly died after allegedly being beaten in a racially-motivated beating from a black man last week.

Babbitt was beaten by Lashawn Marten, who yelled “I’m going to punch the first white man I see!” shortly before punching Babbitt, officials told the New York Daily News. 

Now Babbitt has died, law enforcement sources told NBC.

Marten also punched two other white people, a 48-year-old and a 18-year-old. They were treated at hospitals and released.
