NEW YORK—The NYPD wants the public to help find a man suspected of committing 16 separate acts of robbery in Manhattan.
Since the first incident May 5, the man has allegedly stolen wallets, cell phones—including iPhones—and other personal property from 16 people. The latest two robberies happened Friday evening, according to the NYPD, when the suspect approached two victims at 801 East 14th Street and fled with an iPhone and an iPod.
The suspect “approaches victims in various locations, displays or simulates a weapon (firearm or knife), threatens the victims, and demands personal property,” the NYPD said in a news release. “The [16] victims were not injured as a result of the robberies.”
A picture of the suspect shows him to be a male with dark complexion, and a thin mustache and a thin beard. The NYPD say he is between 30 and 40 years old and about 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
