Either professional football teams have really bored interns managing their social media accounts or they really enjoy puns.
Three feline NFL teams engaged in playful cat-themed Twitter banter on April 22.
The conversation occurred between the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Carolina Panthers—the 2016 Superbowl Runner-Ups—and the Detroit Lions.
It all began when the Jaguars tweeted a fun fact about their namesake in celebration of Earth Day 2016.
Happy #EarthDay!

Shortly afterwards, the Panthers showed the Jaguars that they aren’t always the cool cats. Especially since the Panthers lost to the Denver Broncos in Superbowl 2016.

The Panthers really upped their game with the first feline pun of the exchange.

Though it lasted less than two hours and consisted mainly of images, videos, and gifs of felines, the exchange delighted fans. In total, the conversation has received over 18,000 retweets and likes.
Fellow feline-themed American football team, the Cincinnati Bengals, really missed out on a fantastic publicity opportunity. I’m sure they are clawing at themselves.
