Update: The National Weather Service has issued a “red flag” alert, saying strong winds and dryness have a potential to cause brush fires. The agency said target areas are: Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Essex, Western Bergen, Western Passaic, and Western Union.
A massive brush fires in Secaucus and Kearney has billowed a black cloud of smoke, disrupting New Jersey Transit on April 19.
The fire can be seen from New York, miles away.

The New Jersey Transit said the Main Bergen train service from Kingsland to Hoboken, and from Rutherford to Hoboken has been suspended due to the fire. Transit authorities then said the the Main Bergen line had been restored with up to 30 minutes of delay on both sides.
The New Jersey Transit said Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
