Over 1000 Shanghai residents gathered in front of the city government office, on June 13, to file complaints to the authorities for the various injustices that they have suffered, an insider source told The Epoch Times.

The building, which is located at 200 People’s Road, has become a well-known attraction for Shanghai residents who frequently show up to petition their cases. Through a series of submitted photos from the insider source, The Epoch Times was able to learn about several petitioners’ stories.

One petitioner was a former worker at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group. He lost his leg while at work, but the company refused to give him compensation for his prosthetic leg.

One elderly man held up a sign recounting the unfair treatment he suffered from the Pudong New District Construction and Transportation Commission. He claimed that the commission made fake notices to get residents to leave their homes and make room for new businesses.

The Pudong New District Chuansha Urban Management Department, another government entity, used government funds totaling tens of millions of Chinese yuan to pay the new businesses for their start-up expenses. When several elderly residents refused to leave their homes, people from the urban management department were sent to beat up the residents. The elderly man had his camera stolen when he attempted to take photos of the people beating up the residents.

One woman carried a placard that described her family member who died after suffering medical malpractice at the local hospital. At the Pudong District Renji Hospital, doctors refused to treat the family member, leaving him without food or water for three days.

In order to make money, the hospital just kept running CT scans on the family member, but did not give him the proper medicine, leading to his eventual death. The placard reads, “To make money, the doctor didn’t even care for the patient’s life or death. He just treats humans as guinea pigs!”
