
St. John’s Red Storm (8-7) guard D’Angelo Harrison was named Big East Rookie of the Week Monday, according to a release by the conference.
The freshman guard scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 39 minutes of play Tuesday, a 73 – 58 home loss to Louisville. On Saturday he played all 40 minutes in the Red Storm’s 57 – 55 win at Cincinnati, tallying 18 points and 7 rebounds.
For the season, Harrison leads all Big East freshman in scoring with 16 points per game and is second among all players in conference-play at 21 points per contest.
Harrison is the first St. John’s recipient of the award since guard Darryl Hill in February of 2004.
