A woman who was trying to take a selfie with a swan apparently killed the bird in the process.

The woman, who is from Macedonia, reportedly dragged the swan up from a lake, as reported by The Metro.

She then left the swan to die on the beach.

Since then, photos of her holding the swan have gone viral. She can be seen holding and grabbing the unsuspecting bird up to the shoreline of Lake Ohrid. After that, she took a picture and abandoned the swan.

The swan “remained motionless after the encounter,” reported Macedonia Online.

“According to witnesses, the swan itself didn’t react to the Bulgarian woman’s approach, as they are very peaceful and used to no one bothering them,” the website stated, according to a translation of the report.
