Music man Wyclef Jean’s bid to run for president of Haiti came to a halt this week after Haiti’s elections board decided he didn’t meet the required residency qualifications.

Jean indicated in an interview with AP that his lawyers will file an appeal since he feels he meets the criteria. Jean also commented that he was not required to comply with the law so strictly because after President Rene Preval appointed him as roving ambassador in 2007, he was allowed to travel and live outside of the country.
