Judge Blocks DOGE From Treasury System; Trump Announces 25 Percent Steel, Aluminum Tariffs
A federal judge on Saturday temporarily blocked Elon Musk’s DOGE team from accessing the Treasury Department’s payment and data systems. Musk has called for the judge’s impeachment, while President Donald Trump has told Musk to move forward on searching for cuts. Next, DOGE will examine the Department of Education and the U.S. Military. NTD spoke with contributor Mike Leon to get his analysis of the situation.
Trump has announced new 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, including from Canada and Mexico. The Australian government says it will push for an exemption, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stating that Australian steel and aluminum are core inputs to U.S. supply chains and U.S.-based industry. Trump also confirmed plans to announce “reciprocal tariffs” later this week, meaning the United States would impose duties on countries that unfairly tax American goods.
The Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl victory in the franchise’s history on Sunday, beating the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 and denying Kansas what would have been their third consecutive NFL championship.
