Hilton Advances in California’s Governor Race; Trump: Iran Must ‘Pay the Price’ | NTD Good Morning (June 10)

A week after the California primaries, gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton will advance to the general election in November. The Associated Press called Hilton’s advancement on June 9, a week after the primaries. Hilton held 24.9 percent to Democrat Xavier Becerra’s 27.9 percent, with 88 percent of the votes counted. In Maine, voters nominated Graham Platner to take on incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).

President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, criticized Iran for taking too long in negotiations and vowed to make it “pay the price.” It comes after the two sides exchanged strikes after Trump blamed Tehran for the crash of an American attack helicopter.

House Republicans passed a major $72 billion immigration enforcement and border security package that would fund ICE and Border Patrol through the remainder of Trump’s term.

The measure passed mostly along party lines in a 214–212 vote. Democrats unanimously opposed the bill, arguing it expands immigration enforcement without additional reforms or oversight. The bill now heads to Trump’s desk, where he is expected to sign it into law.
